2017 Research Workshop for Korean Studies in Israel
At mid December 2017 The Sir Dr. Naim Dangoor Program for Universal Monotheism hosted the research workshop scholars for Korean Studies in Israel. The workshop, convergent for its second year, serves as hub for senior researchers and graduate PhD students in the field. Dr. Alon Levkowitz, the seminar initiator, explains: “The workshop, unlike formal conferences, is an environment-friendly think tank for presenting new thoughts, enabling the participants to display their recent studies and receive feedbacks, support and advice from their colleagues." This as more, he adds: "We agreed that the main goal of this workshop will be to form a supportive researchers community that will promote new collaboration ideas, suggest joint research projects and share thoughts regarding Israel-Korea relations. Naturally, we are also examining means of enlarging the number of Korean students studying in Israel".
This year, the number of participants was double compering to last year seminar. It was agreed by all that the workshop was important, significant and decided that for the next year's seminar the organizers will invite international scholars to take part in it as well.
Apart from The Sir Dr. Naim Dangoor Program for Universal Monotheism at Bar Ilan University, the seminar was supported by the Korean embassy in Israel. At the closing event, Mr. Che Dong-Huan, acting Korean Ambassador to Israel and Mr. Woo Hong-Koo, Korea's cultural attaché in Israel, invited all workshop participants to a gala dinner at the embassy residence.
During the generous reception, he thanked them for their sincere efforts to promote understanding and mutual collaborations between the two countries, and discuss future prospects of Korea-Israel studies in years to come.
