Activities & Programming in China

China has become a leader in the global arena, and for Israel, China may be a valuable ally. At the same time, among the Chinese there is a budding interest in Israeli R&D and the culture of the Jewish People. Over the past 8 years, the Dr. Naim Dangoor Inter-religious Center for Universal Monotheism at Bar Ilan University has been developing academic programs to strengthen these relations.

Shanghai International Studies and Fudan Institute Conferences

The Dr. Naim Dangoor Program for Universal Monotheism held unique "Israel Studies in China" and "Future History" conferences in Shanghai, commemorating the 20th jubilee of the formal establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Israel and the establishment of Israel Studies at universities across China. The conferences were organized together with the Shanghai International Studies University, the Fudan Institute in Shanghai, and SIGNAL, the Sino-Israel Global Network & Academic Leadership, and with the support of the Israeli Foreign Ministry and the Israeli consulate in Shanghai.

The exhibition “The Jews in Modern China” housed in the BINA building, is a fascinating attest to the unceasing bond between the two ancient peoples. The exhibition, open to the public during the first semester of 2017, presents rare historic and personal photographs and filmstrips, focusing on Jewish migration to China over the last two centuries, including refugees who escaped Nazi Germany.

ICC - Bar Ilan Israel China Club - 巴伊兰以中俱乐部‎‏

Last night we celebrated our annual Winter holidays celebration.

With the 4th Hanukah candle lit and a gift exchange, we celebrated our annual winter holidays of Christmas, "DongZhi" (Winter Solstice), and Hanukah!

While some of us took part in the "Secret Santa" and exchanged unique gifts, all of us had both our bellies and minds fed. From snacking on traditional local winter delicacies to an engaging time of cultural exchange, the warmth of the festive cheer stoked our curiosity on both Israeli and Chinese cultures and the precious winter holidays we all celebrate.

Be it the celebration of the impossible victory over Hanukah, or the hope of Christmas, or the family reunions over "DongZhi", ICC would like to thank each of you for your gift of presence, presents, and effort into making this event an unforgettable night.

More events and happenings coming your way shortly, stay tuned!

Center of Sino-Judaic Studies

The Program launched programs for research and instruction of Hebrew culture, history, language and tradition in China. The studies continue to focus on Jewish communities of China, and comparative studies of Jewish and Chinese culture, religion, and society. In response to this initiative, Shandong University, Nanjing University, SISU University and Harbin University in China, among others, has sought out Bar-Ilan as a partner for cross-cultural research and instruction. Bar-Ilan has now built up a critical mass of activity to found a national center for Sino-Judaic studies. This would be both a timely and unique contribution to the Jewish People, the Chinese, and the global intellectual community.

"Walking in his footsteps": comparative religions aspects of spiritual leadership

In honor of Sir Dr. Niam Dangoor 101 birthday and his long term contribution to religious dialogue and research, the Dr. Naim Dangoor Interdisciplinary Program for Universal Monotheism at Bar-Ilan University calls for academic papers competition for undergraduate and graduate students.
